An Alvin teenager battling a deadly genetic disease is being honored by the state of Illinois. Sunday will be officially designated as “Blake Kinnett Day” throughout the state.
Kinnett has lost his sight and the use of his limbs because of a brain disorder that destroys the nerve cells that allow people to think and control their muscles. There is no known cure for the ailment. The community of Alvin has rallied behind the teenager. When State Senator Jason Barickman heard about the Alvin teen, he sponsored legislation giving Blake his own day.
