A variety of family fun for a purpose will be found in downtown Danville on Saturday. The Soul Garden Recovery Center will hold its first Pumpkin festival from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
One of organizers, Dee Ann Ryan, says the day will begin with a pumpkin garage starting at 9.m. This will be where you can get help constructing a racer made from a pumpkin. The racers will compete on a ramp later in the day to select the best racer. The pumpkin garage and derby are presented by Danville Township
Ryan says there will be other fun events. There will be children’s games, vendors, a teen theater presentation and a pumpkin glow at dusk.
The Soul Garden Recovery Center is a non-profit corporation that seeks to take action against the drug problems in Vermilion County by offering services to the addictions as well as family and friends. The group hopes to soon open its own recovery community center.
Organizers hope to make the Pumpkin Festival and annual event.
