Ricky Williams has been chosen to be the acting Mayor of Danville. The Ward 1 alderman was chosen by his fellow council members have a lengthy executive session last night. Williams says he has dreamed of being the Danville mayor since he was a teenager.
He will finish the 5 months of Mayor Scott Eisenhauer term. Eisenhauer is leaving to become village Administrator in Rantoul.
The soon to be mayor said he plans to get moving on the job quickly.He said that he needs help for the entire community to work on Danville’s future
Williams says he also plans to continue his job as Executive Director of Project Success.
Eisenhauer will leave the Danville post on Tuesday, November 6 and Williams will be sworn in to replace him. That is the same day that Danville voters will decide if the city should change to a City Manager form of government. If approved, the Mayor would become a part-time position. Williams was chosen by a 13-1 vote. Alderman Mike Puhr voted present.
