A Danville woman has been sentenced to 60 years in prison for murder. Vermilion County State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy said that 39 year old Lakeisha Cunningham will serve 100 percent of the sentence imposed by Judge Nancy Fahey. Cunningham also must serve three years mandatory supervision after her release.
A Vermilion County jury found Cunningham guilty of killing 25 year old Justin Jones in a parking lot on East Fairchild Street. In April of 2017. Jones and one of Cunningham’s adult children got into an argument after a car accident. One of Cunningham’s children ran home to get his mother. She returned to the scene with a gun and killed Jones with a single shot.
Cunningham fled the scene but was arrested in May 2017 in Chicago by the U.S. Marshal Task Force and Danville police.
