East Central Illinois Community Action Agency has begun accepting appointments for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
Priority Group 1 consists of households with senior citizens 60 years of age and older, or Individuals who have a documented disability.
Eligible households in Vermilion County may apply for assistance by scheduling an appointment at Community Action Agency at 56 N. Vermilion Street in Danville, between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. Call (217) 554-9110. Applicants must show their income, heating bill, and proof of medical eligibility.
Beginning Nov. 1, Priority Group 2 will be able to schedule appointments.
Priority Group 2 consists of households with children under the age of 6 years as well as households who are disconnected from their power sources.
On Dec. 3, the program will be available to all other income eligible households. The LIHEAP program will continue until May 31, 2019, or until funding is exhausted.
