The Vermilion County Board has unanimously approved Larry Baughn of Hoopeston as its new chairman. Baughn was nominated for the position by Republicans, but the Democrats also voted for him. He’ll succeed Mike Marron, who resigned to finish the remainder of the term of former state Rep. Chad Hays. Marron is a candidate for the 104th District seat in November. His opponent is Cynthia Cunningham.
One of the first issues facing the new chairman is finding some new board members. In addition to Marron, four members have stepped down after moving out of their district. Set to leave are; Democrat Cari West-Monson of District 7.
— Democrat Chad Turner of District 5.
— Democrat Frank Hoskins of District 9.
— Republican Todd Johnson of District 1.
