For the first time in the 72-year-history of Danville Area Community College, an African-American will serve as a College Trustee. During a special Board meeting on Monday, the Trustees appointed Tracy Cherry to fill the vacancy left by Tonya Hill’s resignation to become the DACC Foundation Board Director.
Cherry is the Principal at Kenneth D. Bailey Academy. Cherry has devoted most of her 35 years in education to serving as a teacher and administrator for Danville’s District 118 District. She first came to Danville in 1990 as an elementary physical education teacher. She will serve on the Board until the April, 2019, election when voters select someone to serve for the remaining two years of the term.
