Danville police are investigating two shooting incidents. Just after midnight on Sunday, police were about a home invasion in the 900 block of Fairchild. Police spoke to the homeowner who stated he had encountered an intruder in his home and he had fired his gun in self-defense. The homeowner stated he had heard loud knocking at his door before observing two men in his backyard. The homeowner armed himself with a firearm and stayed inside his home. The homeowner then heard someone enter the residence through a window and observed the intruder to be armed with a handgun. The homeowner fired several shots at the intruder who then retreated back out the window and fled the area on foot. Danville Police later interviewed a person of interest who was being treated for a gunshot wound at Carle Hospital in Urbana. That person was uncooperative and at this time there is nothing to connect him to the incident in Danville.
Around 2 am yesterday, Danville Police were called to the unit block of Kentucky St. in reference to a victim of a shooting. Officers located a 41 year old Danville man who had a gunshot wound to his jaw. The victim stated he was shot while inside his residence but due to his injury he was unable to provide any details about the incident. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment and his wounds are not considered life threatening.
