Vermilion County Board Chairman Mike Marron has been chosen to fill out the remainder of Chad Hays’ term in the Illinois House. The leadership of the Champaign County and Vermilion County Republican Party met and unanimously agreed on the selection of Marron.
Hays is leaving the Illinois House before his term ends in order to take a new position as Executive Director of Crosspoint Human Services. Hays will step down on September 7. That same day, Marron will be sworn into the job at 1 p.m. at the Vermilion County courthouse.
Marron said he is humbled and honored to be selected to fill out the term and he looks forward to being a strong voice for local citizens. Hays said that it is with tremendous enthusiasm that I will pass the baton to Mike as the next State Representative for the 104th District.
Marron is already on the November ballot for the full term in the House.
The Vermilion County Board will have to name someone to take Marron’s position on the board. The board also will have to select a new County board Chairman.
