The new owners of Bresee Tower met with local city and county officials last week to discuss their plans for renovating Danville’s tallest building. The News Gazette reports that the owners met with Danville Mayor Scott Eisenhauer and Vermilion County Board Chairman Mike Marron. Chris and Jeri Collins are the new owners of Bresee Tower, a vacant, century-old, 13-story former office building.
Local officials and the new owners have not disclosed details of the plans for the building. Marron said the new owners are interested in the county selling them the vacant Vermilion County Courthouse Annex, which is literally connected to Bresee Tower.
The Collins became owners of the building in June. There have been several owners in recent years. The city of Danville has filed a lawsuit against past owners applying pressure to immediately repair Bresee’s terra cotta facade, which has deteriorated over the last two decades. Pieces have fallen to the ground, creating a liability issue for the city and the county.
