Vermilion County Farm Bureau is celebrating 100 years of service to local agriculture. One of their centennial activities will be a Heritage Tractor Drive.
The drive will take place on Saturday, August 11. Tractors will lineup at the Vermilion County Fairgrounds west of Danville off US Route 150, with the drive scheduled to depart at 9:30 am. Veteran farm broadcaster Max Armstrong will be the grand marshal, driving his own tractor to lead the drive.
After leaving the fairgrounds, the line of farm tractors will travel to Oakwood on US Route 150, then turn south toward the Catlin-Homer Road. The drive will continue into Catlin, with a rest stop at the community park.
The drive will then proceed south on the Catlin-Indianola Road, then turn east toward Westville. Participants will then proceed north on IL Route 1 toward Danville, and head to Lincoln Park for lunch.
In the park, the public is invited to get an up-close look at the tractors. A pork chop sandwich lunch will also be available for purchase at Lincoln Park. After lunch, the tractor drive will return to the fairgrounds.
If you have a tractor to join the fun, call the Farm Bureau to register at 217-442-8713.
