Danville Mayor Scott Eisenhauer says perhaps it’s time for him to explore other jobs. He says he can’t wait until November to see whether or not his current job exists without exploring other employment opportunities.
The mayor is concerned because a non-partisan group is petitioning for a referendum to change Danville to a City Manager/alderman form of government. Eisenhauer says he at least wants to see what else is out there in case the referendum passes in November.
But the mayor says he won’t know if he is running again until after the November election. He says he is not interested in being a city manager or a part-time Mayor. He would only be interested in running again if the government says the same. He says he is not sure what job would be a good one for his experience and skill level.
The group seeking the Government change is known as Moving Danville Forward. Pat O’Shaughnessy is one of the group’s leaders. He says times have changed and Danville needs a different approach.
Under the new form, the Mayor would be a part-time position, and the City council members would have the power to hire and fire the city manager.
