With Mike Marron becoming a State Representative in September, a new Vermilion County Board chairman has to be named. The Republicans hold a majority on the county board, so they will have the power to make the pick. The Attorney General’s Office has determined that the party caucus to vote on a new chairman must be an open meeting. So, Republicans will be holding a public meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, July 30 at Vermilion County Title.
The Democratic Party has the option to select a candidate as well. If Democrats do, the notice of a public meeting will be posted on the county website.
At the County Board meeting on September 11, the Vice Chairman will open the meeting. Nominations on the new chairman will be taken, and the winner will be sworn in and conduct the remainder of regular business of the board.
