A Danville man was found not guilty of murder, but guilty of mob action, Thursday afternoon regarding the 2017 murder of Kuron Kimmons. Ronald T. Pettis was convicted of mob action, a Class 4 Felony, in the Vermilion County Courthouse.
There are three other jury trials regarding Kimmons’ murder currently scheduled for three other people – Ronesha E. Pettis of Danville; Marcus D. Jefferson of Chicago; and Malika Anthony of Danville. All are set for July 16.Ronesha Pettis and Jefferson face first-degree murder, aggravated battery and mob action. Anthony, who was 15 at the time of the murder, will be tried as an adult and faces first-degree murder and mob action charges.
On May 30 2017, police responded to the 900 block of Campbell Lane in reference to a person reportedly stabbed. Officers found several people performing CPR on a 43-year-old Kimmons. He later died at the Danville hospital. Police said there was an apparent argument among several people when Kimmons stepped in. At some point, Kimmons was stabbed.
