Danville police are investigating a series of crimes over the weekend, but have not connected them to one another.
Friday afternoon, a man sustained gunshot wound to his jaw. Police were called to the unit block of Kentucky Street for a report of shots fired. They interviewed the victim at the hospital. He said the shots were fired from a vehicle a short time after an argument.
Also Friday, there were two reports of criminal damage to property when cars were damaged by gunfire. The first happened in the 1200-block of Harmon Street. A man told police he heard four or five shots then found damage to his vehicle. He did not see the shooting.
The second incident happened in the 200-block of Walnut Street. A woman reported someone shooting at her car when she stopped to pick up friends. Her vehicle was also damaged.
Saturday, another report of criminal damage to a vehicle from gunfire was reported in the area of Voorhees and Fowler streets. A man told police he was shot at, his vehicle damaged by someone in an unknown vehicle. No one was hurt in any of these incidents.
Sunday evening, two men entered the Family Dollar Store, in the 1200-block of East Main Street armed with handguns and wearing masks. The suspects demanded money and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. Anyone who has information regarding these crimes is asked to call Danville Police at (217) 431-2250.
